Dr. Prakash Krishnaswami, Professor, Mechanical & Nuclear Engineering department at Kansas State University was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML – a form of blood cancer) with an underlying condition of Myeloid Dysplastic Syndrome in July 2007 . Prakash underwent a stem cell transplant at KU Med Center in Kansas City in October 2007, thanks to a kind donor. He is now recuperating in Kansas City and expects to go back home in a few months.
